Henry Leo DeWuske was born April 17, 1936 at home in Mahtomedi, MN where he resided for 82 years. He began his 30 year political career in 1967 where he served on the Lincoln Township Board. Later as Chairman of the Board. After the merge with Mahtomedi he served many years on the city council. Then 14 years as mayor of Mahtomedi. In 1998 he served on the Lake Are Bus Commission. He was past member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church council, in North Saint Paul. He was also Past President of Lakeview Cemetery Association, where he was still on the board of directors at the time of his death. He was Grand Marshall of the 1995 home coming parade. He was a past member of the Wildwood Lions Club. In 1988-89 he won the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated humanitarian services thru the Lions Club International Foundation. During 1995-96 he won the Lion of the Year Award. His love of fishing won him the Grain Belt Sports Certificate of Merit Award from the WDGY sports department. He delivered Meals on Wheels every Friday for too many years to count. He retired from Anderson Windows after 37 years of dedicated service. His love of family and friends kept him going while on his Parkinson journey of 18 years. Henry is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Laura, two brothers, one sister and his son-in-law Douglas. Survived by Jeanette, his loving wife of 61 years; children Kim Pfeffer, Timothy (Shelia) and Kelley (Dennis) Schwietz; also survived by his grandchildren, great grandchildren; sister Naomi Ward and many loving relatives and friends. Henry was former Mayor of Mahtomedi for many years. Funeral service 12 noon, Wednesday, October 24th at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2475 17th Ave. E., North St. Paul. Visitation at church from 10AM until time of service Wednesday. Burial Lakeview Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to church or the Pillars Hospice, Oakdale.
